Trustee & Operations Manager

Lionel is a professionally qualified accountant (CIPFA). Having spent several years in Local Government specialising in housing finance, 10 years in the private sector marketing and selling computer based accounting systems, 9 years as Deputy Chief Executive in a housing association, he eventually became Chief Executive of Port Sunlight Village Trust in 2003 and remained in post until his retirement in 2015.

As the son of a Master Mariner, Lionel has been involved with ships and boats since early childhood and owns his own cruiser–racer moored in Liverpool Marina. Lionel has sailed in cruising yachts since the early 1990s and before he bought his own yacht in 2014 he was a member of Royal Mersey Yacht Club where he helmed a Mersey Milne classic racing yacht. He has an RYA Yacht Master Coastal qualification and loves nothing better than instilling the joy of sailing in those new to the experience.

Lionel was appointed to the Board of Trustees in March 2020.
