Dame Lorna Elizabeth Muirhead, was Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside between 2006 and 2017.

She is a past President of the Royal College of Midwives and was a midwifery adviser on Baby Lifeline of which she is Co-President.

She is a vice-president of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, the national midwifery adviser for St John Ambulance, was President of Merseyside County Scout Council and is also the Patron of Birkenhead Choral Society.
